HARRISONBURG, Va. - Averett University women's basketball fell short at Eastern Mennonite University 80-61 on Saturday.
Eastern Mennonite opened up the game on a 22-6 run in the first quarter. The Royals took a 50-20 lead into halftime.
In the second half Averett outscored the Royals 18-14 in the third quarter. The Cougars offense erupted for 23 points in the fourth while the Royals scored 16 to bring the final score to 80-61.
Sophomore
Brianna Sams had a team and career-high 15 points while senior
Talia Prosper had 14 points. Sophomore
Skylar Jones, freshman Jenkins Ervin and Prosper each had a team-high five rebounds in the loss.
Averett is back in action at home Wednesday when it hosts Lynchburg at 7 p.m.
