GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University softball lost a pair of non-conference games at Greensboro College on Thursday, falling 8-0 in five innings and 3-1 in Game 2.
Averett (1-7) struck first in Game 2 when freshman
Molly George scored on an RBI groundout in the top of the second inning. That lead held until the fourth inning, when Greensboro (3-1) tied it 1-1 on an RBI single. The Pride took a 2-1 lead with an RBI triple in the fifth and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.
Averett totaled four hits in the second game of the day.
In the opener, Greensboro scored a run in each of the first two innings before exploding for six runs in the third to pull away. The Pride, meanwhile, limited Averett to only two hits — one of which was a triple by junior
Grace Watlington.
Averett is scheduled to travel to Salem College on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader.
