LEXINGTON, Va. - Averett University women's basketball fell on the road to No. 11/23 Washington and Lee University on Wednesday night 109-54.
Averett (4-18, 2-13 ODAC) held nationally-ranked Washington and Lee (20-2, 14-1 ODAC) to a close 19-17 through the first 10 minutes of play. The Cougars tied things up at 19 all at the start of the second quarter from junior
Jaa Brown's free-throws. The Generals erupted on an 20-2 run before entering halftime with a 52-30 lead. Washington and Lee extended its lead throughout the second half to bring the finals score to 109-54.

Skylar Jones and senior
Natija Pate each had a team-high 10 points while freshman Jenkins Ervin had a team-high of seven rebounds. Brown chipped in seven points while sophomore
Rayanna Evans had six points.
As a team the Cougars had 38 rebounds while the Generals had 49.
Averett is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Eastern Mennonite University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
