DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's tennis dominated Division II Johnson C. Smith University 9-0 on Tuesday at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (5-3) took all three points in doubles play, with junior
Keira Gunning and freshman
Siddhi Khandelwal winning 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore
Brenda Poulakidas and freshman
Jennika Jaison also teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2. The Cougars won by default at No. 3 over Johnson C. Smith (3-3)
Jaison also picked up a win, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 singles to highlight a sweep of singles matches. Khandelwal and Gunning won at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while freshman
Dilara Sultanova battled for a 7-5, 6-3, win at No. 4. Sophomore
Amelie Schroeder won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Averett faces Washington College of Maryland on Saturday in Newport News, Virginia.
