WINCHESTER, Va. — Averett University men's tennis picked up a key Old Dominion Athletic Conference road win on Wednesday, beating Shenandoah University 6-3.
Averett (3-4, 2-0 ODAC) won two of three singles matches to go up 2-1 entering singles play. Junior
Jaeden Mukkaladyil and sophomore
Kazuki Fukushima teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2, while sophomore
Sam Egui and freshman
Alex Rudy won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Gero Siebert and sophomore
Prabjeet Chandhok won in straight sets at No. 6 and No. 4 singles respectively to put the Cougars on the doorstep of a win that was eventually clinched with Fukushima's win at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Mukkaladyil also added a win at No. 2 singles moments later. Shenandoah (6-4, 0-1 ODAC) won the other two singles matches.
Averett, winners of three in a row, is scheduled to face Division I Hampton University on the road Saturday.
