LEXINGTON, Va. – Averett University men's tennis duo in junior Alex Rudy and sophomore Lucas Fiandra were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State First Team on Monday.

The two become Averett's 24th and 25th VaSID All-State selections in the program's long history, while also making it three out of the past six seasons in which at least two Cougar players were named to the list.

Rudy, hailing from Minsk, Belarus, and Fiandra, hailing from Montevideo, Uruguay, set a new mark in the program's long history by becoming the first Cougar duo to be named to the VaSID First Team, and and the fifth doubles team overall. Rudy and Fiandra also earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) first team honors at no. 1 doubles. 

The pair achieved a 10-6 record this past season, with a 9-6 record playing at the top spot. In ODAC matches, they were 5-2.
