VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Averett University women's tennis topped conference foe Virginia Wesleyan University 8-1 on Saturday.
Averett (8-4, 5-0 ODAC) swept all three doubles matches. At No. 1, junior
Keira Gunning and freshman
Siddhi Khandelwal dominated 8-2. At No. 2, sophomore
Brenda Poulakidas and freshman
Jennika Jaison won 8-4, and the duo of sophomore
Elisa Battermann and freshman
Ana Herrera won 8-1 at No. 3.
Averett won five of six singles, all in straight sets. Jaison won at No. 1, freshman
Dilara Sultanova won at No. 2, sophomore
Harshri Asher won at No. 4, freshman
Annika Kellerer won at No. 5 and Herrera won at No. 6. Virginia Wesleyan (4-5, 1-1 ODAC) needed to go beyond two sets to earn its only point at No. 3 singles.
Averett hosts Division II Winston-Salem State University on Friday.
