SAVANNAH, Ga. — No. 14/16 Averett University men's golf completed play at the Savannah Invitational on Tuesday, where the Cougars finished 16th in a highly competitive field at the par-72, 6,851-yard Club at Savannah Harbor.
Teams had to finish Monday's suspended second round before playing the final round of the 54-hole tournament. Averett shot a collective 34-over-par 898. No. 1 Methodist University won the tournament over No. 2 Emory University by three strokes with a 23-under 841.
Huntingdon College's Zackery Coker won the medalist honors with an 11-under 205, edging three other golfers by one stroke.
Freshman
Johnny Stewart was Averett's top finisher in a tie for 45 th with a 6-over 222. Graduate student
Caleb Kimbrough was three shots back at 9-over, along with sophomore
Miguel Rodriguez Lamana. Freshman
John Keba battled back to score his lowest round of the tournament during the final 18 holes with a 3-over 75 to finish at 15-over. Junior
Killian O'Reilly finished at 16-over for the three-round tournament.

Next up for the Cougars is the Tiger Invitational hosted by Hampden-Sydney College at Forest Creek Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, from March 10-11.
