DANVILLE, Va. — Senior
Connor Taff surpassed 100 career points as Averett University men's lacrosse fell on the road to Methodist University on 26-6 in non-conference action Saturday.

Brayton Powers assisting. Methodist tallied its first goal of the night just under the 10-minute mark in the first quarter. Wood tallied his second goal from senior
Connor Taff to put Averett up 3-1 at 8:58 in the first quarter.
The Monarchs scored seven-straight goals to take an 8-3 lead. Wood earned a hat trick at 5:51 in the second quarter on his man-up unassisted goal. Methodist scored 11-straight goals from the final minutes of the second period through the third period taking a 19-4 lead. Ceesay and Wood connected for the second time in the game early in the fourth to stop the Monarchs' run. Taff hit the milestone point when he scored the Cougars' final goal of the night from Powers with 10:13 left in the fourth quarter.
Taff is the first Cougars in the program's young history to reach 100 career points. The senior already sits atop the program record book in points and goals, and his second assist against Methodist tied him for the program record in that category as well.
Wood led the Cougars scoring with four goals while Taff chipped in a goal and two assists. Sophomore
Luis Martinez had a team-high two caused turnovers. Four Cougars scooped up three ground balls each with the team having 26 ground balls total. Sophomore goalie
Cameron Prutzman made 20 saves inside the cage for the Cougars.
Averett travels to Virginia Wesleyan University next Saturday at 1 p.m. in non-conference action.
