DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse came up short against the University of Lynchburg, 18-3.
Lynchburg (9-4, 6-1 ODAC) opened up an early lead over Averett (1-9, 0-5 ODAC) before the Cougars found the net for the first time. With 4:32 to play in the second quarter junior 
Faith Bowlin fired her shot into the back of the net to make the score 11-1.  
The Hornets continued to impress, extending their lead in the second half, before a pair of freshmen put Averett back on the board. 
Gracie Kean and 
Ava Soucek both tallied fourth quarter goals for the Cougars, their sixth and 10th of the season respectively.
Averett is back at home for a clash with No. 14 Roanoke College next. The team's annual Team Molly game, the second half of a doubleheader with the men's lacrosse team, is set to get started on Saturday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m.
