DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's lacrosse fell to Randolph College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play, 16-8.
Randolph (4-9, 2-5 ODAC) jumped out to an early lead before Averett (2-13, 1-6 ODAC) found the score column. Senior
Connor Taff scored first for the Cougars, making a fantastic defensive play before streaking to the net and finishing strong.
Sophomore
Emmett Wood opened the second quarter with a bang for the Cougars, scoring just over one minute into play. Sophomore
Casey Peterson bookended Averett's second quarter scoring with a goal, powered by a tremendous individual effort, as he sliced through the defense and scored from long distance.
Averett started the second half hot, as sophomore
Cameron Shadduck scored early on, followed by another goal from Wood. Wood closed out the third with another tally, securing a hat trick performance. Taff and freshman
Tigran Ceesay each added a goal in the fourth quarter, as Averett trailed 16-8 at the final whistle.
The Cougars are back in action with a trip to Guilford College coming on Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m.
