FERRUM, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse fell to Ferrum College 12-6 on Wednesday night.

Porsha Davis scored her first goal of the season and just the second of her career around the three minute mark of the fourth period.
Ferrum (7-3, 3-2 ODAC) was first to get in the board, scoring at around the 13 minute mark. With 10 minutes remaining in the first period, senior
Faith Bowlin tied things up with a free position goal. Ferrum was able to pull ahead once more, scoring with about three minutes left in the first period.
Within a minute of the start of the second period, Ferrum managed to extend its lead to 3-1. Freshman
Kait Cashman brought Averett (1-7, 0-3 ODAC) within one goal after finding the back of the net at 10:36 in the second period. Bowlin gave Averett its first lead of the game after her goal assisted by senior
Porsha Davis.
The game stayed even at 3-3 until the start of the third period. Ferrum took the lead after a goal that came around the 14 minute mark. Ferrum added two goals to lead 5-3. Cashman got the Cougars within one goal after scoring with around seven minutes left in the third period. By the end of the period, the Panther lead climbed to 11-4.
In the fourth period, Ferrum tacked on another goal early on. Cashman got her third goal of the game with at 6:38 remaining.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
