DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis earned three singles wins, but the Cougars fell short 6-3 to No. 25 Washington and Lee University in a key Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon on the Averett Tennis Courts.
Washington and Lee (11-5, 6-0 ODAC), ranked No. 7 in the region, won all three doubles matches to go up 3-0 early. In singles play, Averett (3-7, 2-2 ODAC) got a win at No. 2 from junior
Jaeden Mukkaladyil, who won 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 1-0 (14-12) in an epic battle. Sophomore
Prabjeet Chandhok also won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). The Cougars' other point came from freshman
Alex Rudy at No. 6 singles. Rudy won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Averett hosts Roanoke College at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
