DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's basketball lost 87-57 to University of Lynchburg on Wednesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play in the Grant Center.
Â
Averett (7-10, 2-6 ODAC) couldn't overcome a cold-shooting night against Lynchburg (10-7, 4-4 ODAC), which shot 50 percent for the game. Up 12-9 midway through the first half, Lynchburg used a 12-2 run to take control. Averett answered with an 8-2 spurt to close the gap to 26-19 with 4:26 left in the half, but the Hornets methodically increased their lead to 41-23 by halftime. Although the Cougars got 19 points and nine rebounds from freshman
