DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's soccer lost its last home game of 2025 on Wednesday night, as the Cougars were shutout by the Generals of Washington and Lee University, 7-0.
Washington and Lee (8-2-5, 6-0-1 ODAC) took the lead in the third minute from a Matthew Jenkins netter. By the 15th minute, the Generals' offense tacked on a pair more to extend their lead to 3-0.
By halftime, Washington and Lee led Averett (4-6-4, 2-4-1 ODAC) 5-0. Goalkeeper
Anibal Lopez made three saves.
The Generals tacked on two more goals late in the second period to complete the 7-0 scoreline. Four different Cougars tied for the team lead in shots taken, and Lopez finished the night with eight saves overall.
Averett takes to the road to cap off 2025, first with a weekend visit to Shenandoah University on Saturday, Oct. 25. Start time is set for 4:30 p.m.
