FOREST, Va. — Averett University men's basketball cracked the top-10 in the 2025-26 Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll, unveiled on Wednesday.
Voted in at 12th the previous year, the Cougars rounded out 2024-25 at 8-17 with a 3-13 mark in the ODAC.
Randolph-Macon College, ranked second in the preseason D3hoops.com poll, were voted as favorites to win the conference, garnering 11 of the 12 first-place votes. 14th ranked Virginia Wesleyan University slot in at second, while conference tournament finalists and No. 10 Roanoke College complete the top three. No. 17 ranked Hampden-Sydney College take fourth, and the University of Lynchburg were voted to finish fifth. Shenandoah University, Guilford College, and Washington and Lee University were slotted above Averett, sitting in ninth.
The Cougars enter year 12 under the tutelage of head coach
David Doino at the Grant Center on Nov. 7, hosting St. Mary's College of Maryland of the United East Conference.
