DANVILLE, Va. — Sophomore
Mason Mitchell scored a career-high 27 points as Averett University men's basketball defeated Warren Wilson College 96-69 in non-conference action on Wednesday in the Grant Center.
Mitchell was one of four Cougars to score in double digits as Averett (6-2) took control of the game midway through the first half and kept Warren Wilson (3-7) at bay the rest of the way. Up 25-13, Averett had to withstand a quick Warren Wilson run late in the period that got the Owls within 34-29 with 3:19 left. Averett pushed its lead back to 41-32 by halftime.
