GRANTHAM, Pa. — Averett University men's wrestling finished in 11th place as a team with four placers to close out Day 2 of the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah University.
Junior Dominic Pascoe fell to Alvernia in the fifth consolation round, but was able to defeat Patrick Horvath from King's College by a 11-2 major decision to finish in seventh place at 125 pounds.
At 133 pounds, junior A.J. Orlando III placed eighth after losses to Gettysburg College and Messiah University.
Junior 157 pounder Carter Shupert was able to pin Hunter Ballantine of Shenandoah University in a little over a minute to advance to the consolation semifinals. After losing by decision in the consolation semifinals, Shupert faced Messiah University, where he was ultimately defeated and placed sixth.
Jacob Jimenez placed fourth at 197 pounds after defeating Bridgewater State's Christian Curley by a 13-4 major decision in the consolation semifinals and losing to Gettysburg's Phil Nave by fall in the third place match.
The Cougars are back home on Saturday to host the annual Cougar Duals beginning at 9 a.m.
