GREENSBORO, N.C. – Headed down south on the US-29 highway on Sunday afternoon, it was business as usual for the Averett University men's tennis team, defeating Guilford College 6-1.
Averett (6-2, 4-0 ODAC) and its tried and true doubles formula worked to fruition once more, as all three squads won their respective matches to attain the team's first point. Through four conference duals this season, the Cougars have yet to drop one doubles set, including Guilford (3-4, 2-3 ODAC).
Other than a loss at No. 1 singles to perennial All-ODAC player Andres Mercedes, Averett swept all other matches to notch five more points onto the final score, and finished the weekend perfect.
Sam Egui, starting at No. 6, polished the conference win by dispatching Emmanuel Oye, 6-1, 6-4.
The Cougars return home to the Averett Tennis Courts on Thursday, March 27, hosting Centre College for a 1 p.m. start time.
