DANVILLE, Va. – The second match of split action for Averett University women's tennis went according to plan, with the home squad taking care of rival Ferrum College, 7-0 on Friday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (9-3, 4-0 ODAC) utilized a different mix of doubles duos to defeat the Ferrum (2-7, 0-4 ODAC) pairings. The No. 1 pairing, still the same with
Siddhi Khandelwal and
Dilara Sultanova, took down the Panthers' Hannah Hoffman and Skylar Honeycutt, 6-1.
Mirte Post and
Elisa Battermann defeated Gabby Mendoza and Madison Cox by the same stat line. The Cougars won the third court by a forfeit, solidifying the 1-0 lead.
With the No. 5 and 6 matches automatically attained by forfeit, the remaining Cougars did their part, as all won their matches 6-0, 6-0 to seal the 7-0 victory.
Averett takes its undefeated ODAC streak to Salem, Virginia on Tuesday, Apr. 1, battling Roanoke College in a makeup contest from mid-March. Start time at the Elizabeth Campus Courts is set for 2:30 p.m.
