SAVANNAH, Ga. — Averett University men's golf finished up in a tie for 11th at Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College at The Club at Savannah Harbor. The Cougars shot a combined 22-over-par 886 over 56 holes on the par-72, 6,999-yard course over two days.
The Cougars, ranked No. 24 by Scoreboard and receiving votes in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, fell from fifth after shooting 18-over during Tuesday's final round. Washington and Lee University won the tournament at 9-under, jumping Day1 lead Methodist University to win by one stroke.
Averett was paced by freshman
Benjamin Afzelius, who tied for 30 th with a 4-over 220 after shooting a 5-over 77 during the final round. Senior
Killian O'Reilly also finished inside the top 50, tying for 48th with a 7-over 233. Freshman
Nick Baum shot 9-over, while juniors
Miguel Rodriguez Lamana and
Alexander Vidmo shot 13-over.
Washington and Lee's Jonathan McEwen moved up from second to first overall on the final day to win with an 8-under 208.
