FOREST, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse senior
Faith Bowlin was selected as the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced Tuesday as it unveiled its season awards.
Bowlin, a senior attack from Abingdon, Maryland, excelled on the field and in the classroom during her four seasons with the Cougars. A nursing major, Bowlin earned All-ODAC Academic honors multiple times, earned President's List distinction, was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society and a past College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honoree. On the field, she finished her career statistically as one of the best players to wear an Averett uniform. Bowlin was second in program history in goals socred and points and third in assists. For her career, she finished with 214 goals, 48 assists and 262 points. This season she was named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week once and was a recipient of the Female Senior Athlete of the Year award at Averett's Night of Champions. Previously, she earned all-conference and all-state honors and was the 2022 USA South Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and Virginia Sports Information Directors Co-Rookie of the Year in 2022 before the Cougars joined the ODAC. Outside of lacrosse, Bowlin was a part of the Bonner Leaders program, and Averett Connections leader and a member of Sister 4 Sister.
Bowlin is the fourth ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete selection from Averett in the three years the Cougars have been members of the ODAC. Former men's tennis standout Philipp Bohnenkamp received the honor in back-to-back years in 2023 and 2024, and women's soccer senior
Celia de Diego also earned the distinction in fall 2024.
