DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's tennis freshman
Ravaka Ramanantoanina was voted Rookie of the Year as four Cougars combined for five Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division All-State Team honors, which were announced Tuesday. Â
Ramanantoanina garnered Rookie of the Year and VaSID First Team singles honors while also earning Second Team doubles recognition with junior
Brenda Poulakidas. Sophomores
Siddhi Khandelwal and
Annika Kellerer also earned VaSID Single Team honors at singles for Averett, which went 16-5 ( 9-1 ODAC) and advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament finals.
A native of Antananarivo, Madagascar, Ramanantoanina previously was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year and earned All-ODAC First Team singles and All-ODAC Second Team doubles honors. She posted an 11-7 record in singles, mainly from No. 1. In doubles, went 15-5 overall, mainly at No. 2 doubles. Partnering with Poulakidas, a native of Salta, Argentina, the duo finished with a 13-2 record and was 7-0 in conference play.Â
Khandelwal, a native of Jaipur, India, was named to the All-ODAC Second Team at singles. This season, she went 10-8 in singles overall and primarily played at No. 2 with a 6-3 record. One of her top wins of the season came against a nationally ranked opponent in singles versus No. 30/19 Allie Murrell of Washington and Lee University on April 6. Khandelwal was named the ODAC Player of the Week twice this season, was named Averett's Sophomore Athlete of the Year and was one of the Sophomore Female GPA award recipients at Averett's Night of Champions. She also was recently named to the College Sport Communicators' Academic All-District Team.

Kellerer, a native of Feldkirchen, Germany, achieved a team-best 14 wins on the team in singles going 14-3. She played the majority of matches at No. 6, going 6-1, and ended the season on a five-match win streak to earn All-ODACÂ Second Team singles honors for the first time.
