DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University women's soccer fell in its match with Methodist University on Wednesday evening, losing 3-0 to the visiting Monarchs.
Averett (1-2-1) suffered its second straight defeat as Methodist (1-0-2) picked up its first victory of the 2025 season.
The Cougars and Monarchs looked evenly matched for the first 45 minutes of play. The sides traded runs at the opposing net for much of the first half, but each goalie stood up to the task. Junior goalkeeper
Tiia Chrons amassed five saves in the first half alone.
Methodist broke through the Averett defense in the second half, scoring three goals and controlling the run of play nicely en route to closing out a 3-0 victory.
Chrons finished with six saves on the night, while senior
Isobel Evans and freshmen
Ava Norris and
Isabella Kelly each tested the Monarchs keeper with a shot on goal.
Averett women's soccer is hitting the road for its next test, taking on Brevard College on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
