Greensboro, N.C. — Averett University women's volleyball fell 3-1 to Guilford College on Wednesday to open conference play.
Guilford (5-2, 1-0 ODAC) took the opening set 25-15 before Averett (2-7, 0-1 ODAC) responded by taking the second set 25-15. The Quakers took the next two sets with scores of 27-25 and 25-21 respectively.
Junior Sydney Mounce hit a season-high with 19 kills, while junior Tahani Villines had 13. Senior Dayton Moore made 28 assists, while fellow setter sophomore Megan Litman had 15.
Also showing out on defense, Moore protected the Cougars with 19 digs. Sophomore Kyleigh Rains had 17 and Villines had 13.
The Cougars return home when they host Randolph-Macon College for a conference match on Friday at 6 p.m.
