The Series: In the series between the two former long-standing conference rivals in the USA South, the Battling Bishops hold a 36-11-3 ledger against the Cougars. N.C. Wesleyan are winners in 12 straight against Averett, but haven't played since 2022. Last time the schools met, the Battling Bishops took down the Cougars, 3-2 in September of that year.
Averett at a Glance: Averett immediately got back to winning ways on Wednesday, shutting out Greensboro College 2-0 on the road. Joshua Garcia and newcomer Marek Hanscom knotted scores for the visitors, along with senior goalkeeper Anibal Lopez recording his second clean sheet of 2025 with eight saves.   
N.C Wesleyan at a Glance: N.C. Wesleyan lost its home opener to Roanoke College on Friday, 3-1. Reigning USA South Player of the Week Tom Roantree delivered the lone score for the Battling Bishops.
