FOREST, Va. — Averett University men's soccer senior Anibal Lopez was selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

A goalkeeper from Vigo, Spain, Lopez made 13 saves to keep a pair of clean sheets as Averett battled to 0-0 draws against Randolph-Macon College and Methodist University last week. Against Randolph-Macon in a non-conference meeting of conference foes, Lopez stopped all seven shots on goal, including stopping a penalty kick. At Methodist, Lopez made six saves against the Monarchs. 

Lopez leads the ODAC in save percentage (.864) and saves per game (5.43) and is tied first in shutouts (4). He is second with 38 saves.
