DURHAM, N.C. – Averett University men's soccer headed to Durham, North Carolina for a mid-week exhibition at Division I Duke University, and fell 10-0 on Tuesday night at Koskinen Stadium.
Duke (6-0-3), nationally ranked at ninth in the Division I United Soccer Coaches poll on Sept. 30, opened the score in the sixth minute, as Nikolai Jorgensen provided the assist to Kenan Hot. Averett (2-3-3) hindered most of the offensive pressure from the Blue Devils, as the home team mustered up a single goal later in the first half, from Adrian Byaslima in the 43rd minute.

Anibal Lopez played a large part to keep the deficit at two, making six stops.
Duke created distance in the last 45 minutes to secure its victory over the Cougars.
Lopez upped his save tally to a dozen, which set a new career game-high for the senior netminder. Freshman
Daniel Perez logged in his first minutes for Averett late in the second period.
Averett dives back into Old Dominion Athletic Conference action, with an away bout versus the University of Lynchburg, ranked No. 22 in the latest Division III United Soccer Coaches poll, on Saturday, Oct. 4. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
