WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Averett University's men's golf team moved up one spot in the final round of The Melee on Monday, finishing eighth with a team score of 53-over par.
Junior
Benjamin Afzelius led the Cougars with a sixth-place finish at 5-over par for the tournament after shooting 4-over par in the final round.
All four of Averett's competitors finished in the top 50, including
Nicolas Santoso, who placed 20th at 9-over par.
Batten University won the tournament, overtaking Drew University in the final round.
Averett concludes its fall season Oct. 26-27 when it competes in the Guilford College O'Briant-Jensen Memorial in Greensboro, North Carolina on Oct. 26-27.
