DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's golf completed the final round of the Oglethorpe University Invitational on Tuesday. The Cougars finished 21st as a team, while
Benjamin Afzelius tied for 34th out of 128 competitors.
Afzelius had a moment to remember on hole 17 when he carded an eagle on the par-5. He finished the round at 2-over par, moving him into a tie for 34th on the individual leaderboard at 5-over par for the tournament.
Sophomore
Nicolas Santoso carded three birdies in the final round, finishing at 7-over par.
Oglethorpe won the team title, finishing the three-round tournament at 17-under par.
Patrick O'Rourke of Christopher Newport University stood alone atop the individual leaderboard, winning the invitational at 9-under par.
Averett returns to action Oct. 18-19 when it competes in The Melee in Williamsburg, Va.
