ASHLAND, Va. — Averett University men's basketball lost to No. 3 Randolph-Macon College 86-50 in conference action on Saturday.
Averett (14-9, 7-7 ODAC) knocked off the nationally ranked Yellow Jackets earlier this season at home on Jan. 7, but Randolph-Macon (21-2, 12-2 ODAC) controlled the second meeting of the year nearly from the start. Although the Cougars took an initial lead, the Yellow Jackets gained control in the opening minutes and rolled out to a 40-22 halftime lead.
Sophomore Jackson Sellars had a team-high 21 points and sophomore Zach Skogen had a team-best eight rebounds for Averett, which couldn't draw closer in the second half as Randolph-Macon pulled away.
Averett faces Guilford College on Wednesday.
