The Series: The Cougars are 13-35 all-time against Virginia Wesleyan since 1976. Averett won 61-56 in their lone regular season meeting, which began on Jan. 10 before being suspended with 9:39 left in the second half. The game was resumed and completed on Feb. 6. Averett held on, ending the Marlins' four-game win streak in the series. ...This is the first ODAC Tournament meeting between Averett and Virginia Wesleyan, but not the first ever postseason meeting. When Averett was in the USA South Athletic Conference, the Cougars and Marlins faced off in the 2007 NCAA Tournament First Round, with Virginia Wesleyan edging Averett 63-60.
