WASHINGTON, D.C. — Averett University men's volleyball went undefeated on the day, defeating Lehman College 3-1 and Gallaudet University 3-2 on Saturday.
The Cougars (2-2, 0-0 ODAC) opened the day with a four-set victory over Lehman (1-6, 1-1 CUNYAC) after bouncing back from a first-set loss. Averett won with scores of 15-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-19.Â
Sophomore
Liam Audrain paced Averett with 11 kills in the win, while fellow sophomore
Yerai Collazo and freshman
Aiden Williams had 10 a piece. Freshman setter
Luke Brown contributed 37 assists.Â
On the defense, junior
Dominick Jenkins recorded two solo blocks and Audrain led with 13 digs.
In the second match against Gallaudet (2-6, 0-0 United East), Averett forced a fifth set after splitting the first four, defeating the bison with scores of 29-27, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-8.Â
Audrain and senior
Nicholas Breen led the second match in kills with 13 each. Brown added 39 more assists on his day and Williams recorded three solo blocks.Â
Brown also contributed 18 digs, while sophomore
Yerai Collazo and Audrain had 16 and 13 respectively.
The Cougars travel to Bridgewater College on Tuesday for their first conference match of the season at 7 p.m.
