BELMONT, N.C. – No. 61 Averett University women's tennis had its winning streak come to a halt while at Division-II Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday afternoon, as the Cougars lost 4-3 at the Reidy Tennis Center.
Belmont Abbey (18-6) took all three doubles matches for point number one. The Crusaders won singles slots one through three to secure the dual victory. Averett (12-3) did win the backend matches to salvage the afternoon; junior
Siddhi Khot defeated Belmont Abbey's Nya Kerr, 6-4, 6-1.
Reigning ODAC Singles Player of the Week and sophomore
Sunna Maass won versus Charlotte Bergman, 6-4, 6-1; and junior
Annika Kellerer won against the Crusaders' Maggie Page, 6-2, 6-1.
Averett hosts its regular season finale with an ODAC bout against Sweet Briar College at the Averett Tennis Courts on Saturday, Apr. 18. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
