GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University baseball fell to Guilford 16-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Averett (12-18, 5-11 ODAC) jumped out to a fast start, scoring three runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from sophomore
Nathan Michalowicz and junior
Drew Skinner along with an RBI fielder's choice from junior
Jack Turner. The Cougars added two more in the fourth inning on an RBI single by senior
Luke Keister and a sacrifice bunt from Michalowicz to take a 5-3 lead.
Guilford (16-17, 4-11 ODAC) answered with three runs in the third to take the lead and stayed in front before breaking the game open with a 10-run eighth inning.

Maddox Jordan each had two hits for Averett, while Michalowicz led the team with two RBIs.
Averett baseball returns to the diamond for a weekend date with Randolph-Macon College. The Yellow Jackets visit the Cougars on Saturday, April 18, with first pitch set for noon.
