DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University baseball fell to Randolph-Macon 9-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Averett (12-20, 5-13 ODAC) took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from junior Drew Skinner. Randolph-Macon (20-11, 11-6 ODAC) responded with three runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth to take control.
The Cougars cut into the deficit with two runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by an RBI single from junior Tyler Lowe, but Randolph-Macon pulled away with five runs over the final three innings.
Senior Luke Keister and sophomore Austin Ford each recorded two hits for Averett, while Skinner and Lowe drove in runs.
Averett baseball is back in action for its final home tilt of the season on Tuesday, April 21, as the Cougars take on Johnson & Wales University at 3 p.m.
