ELKINS, W.Va. – No. 73 Averett University women's tennis won its eighth straight match with a 6-1 win at Division-II Davis & Elkins College on Tuesday afternoon.
While Averett (10-2) and Davis & Elkins (4-6) split the first and second double slots, the Cougars got dual point number one on the board with a win by default in the deciding doubles bout.
Averett's singles players did its part and sealed victory with solid wins across the lineup. Sophomore
Sunna Maass recorded a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at no. 4, but senior
Brenda Poulakidas and junior
Siddhi Khot were both pushed to three sets. The senior fought from a set down and took the super-tiebreaker, 10-6.
Siddhi Khot was battle-tested as well, but also came out victorious in her respective third set tiebreak, 10-4.
The Cougars head up to in-state Winchester to face Shenandoah University on Saturday, Apr. 11. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
