DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University Athletics has announced the hiring of Bradley Bizzell as head coach for the men's soccer program, announced on Wednesday.

A homecoming for the former Cougar men's soccer player, Bizzell most recently served as an assistant women's soccer coach at Milligan University, where he assisted with all pre-match and post-match activities, recruiting, and the planning and execution of training sessions. In addition to his collegiate coaching duties, Bizzell serves as head coach of the FC Alliance North 07/08 Girls U18/19 team, leading all training sessions and match preparation while helping players prepare for collegiate opportunities.

"We are excited to have coach Bizzell join our staff," Director of Athletics Danny Miller shared. "His level of commitment and dedication to Averett and the soccer program will guide him to success as he showed during his time as a student-athlete. Welcome back home."

Prior to Milligan, Bizzell spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Tabor College from 2022-24. During his time with the program, he helped plan and conduct first-team training sessions, led the reserve squad as head coach, assisted with match preparation and film breakdown, and played a major role in both in-person and virtual recruiting efforts.

"To be named head coach at my alma mater is more than just a job, it's coming back home; and as a former student and player here, I understand the expectations, the passion of all this who support us, and the responsibility that we carry," Bizzell said. "My goal is simple: to develop players who grow on and off the field, compete at the highest level, and bring success back to a program that means the world to me."

Following the conclusion of his collegiate playing days, Bizzell began his coaching career at nearby Tunstall High School, where he served as assistant coach and assisted with practice planning and match preparation.

Formerly a midfielder/defender for the Averett men's soccer squad from 2018-22, Bizzell appeared in 40 games with 24 starts. Bizzell earned USA South Academic All-Conference honors twice, received the teams' service award at Averett's Night of Champions, and earned a spot on the 2020-21 USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.

Hailing from Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, Bizzell completed his Master of Business Administration in Sports Management from Tabor College in 2024. Bizzell also earned a Bachelor of Science in History and Politics from Averett University in 2022. He holds a U.S. Soccer C License, and attained his D license for U.S. coaching.
