DANVILLE, Va. – The Averett University women's soccer team played its final home non-conference game of the season Saturday afternoon at Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium., taking on the Mary Baldwin University Fighting Squirrels. The Cougars lost, 10-0.
Mary Baldwin (2-1-0) opened the scoring at the 9:14 mark of the first half. The Fighting Squirrels pressed on and scored three more goals before halftime. Mary Baldwin later scored six in the second half, as they secured its victory.
Averett (0-3-0) was held scoreless throughout the game. Senior goalkeeper
Krista Hinebaugh recorded 10 saves. Sophomore forward
Delaney Haymore led the Cougars on the offense with a recorded shot.
The Cougars return to the road Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. to face Methodist University, for their last non-conference road game on the season.
