DANVILLE, Va. -- Averett University director of track & field/cross country Annika Seuschek unveiled the hire of former program stalwart Alheli Ramos-Garcia '26 as assistant coach to both programs. 

Ramos-Garcia recently wrapped up a playing career for both the Averett cross country and track & field teams, and achieved an Averett-best second-place finish at the Central Children's Home Cross Country Festival in 2025 on the cross country team. Ramos-Garcia is an ODAC sportsmanship team honoree, earned ODAC All-Academic Team honors in 2025-26, and received the women's cross country team's service award at Averett's Night of Champions.

Hailing from Bassett, Virginia, Ramos-Garcia graduated from Averett University with a bachelor of science in May of 2026.
