The Series: Averett is up 3-1 in the overall series against Gallaudet. The Cougars won three straight from 2000-02, but the Bison notched their first win against Averett last September, with a 39-30 win.
Averett at a Glance: The Cougars rebounded and won their first game of 2026, and head coach Matt Quinn's first collegiate win, at Southern Virginia last weekend, 41-34. Sophomore quarterback Brandon Saunders led a prolific offense with 407 total yards and four combined touchdowns, en route to the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week award for football. Freshman defensive back Desmond Hunter became just one of 13 players in program history to record at least 18 tackles in a single game, and freshman wideout Zymarcus Stover led the team in receptions and yards with seven and 84, respectively.
Gallaudet at a Glance: Gallaudet fell to 0-2 after a road loss to Anderson, 49-28, last weekend. Sophomore signal-caller Jayden DeFalco recorded a career day, as he went 19-for-37 with 296 passing yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Baxter notched six receptions for 56 yards, and a touchdown.
