Athletic trainers are allied health professionals who specialize in the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The sports medicine and athletic training room, located in the Grant Center, provides the space needed for Averett’s student-athletes to receive high-quality care in an effort to keep them as safe and healthy as possible. The space is equipped with multiple taping stations and evaluation/treatment tables, a hydrotherapy area and a connected weight room/rehabilitation area. Certified athletic trainers at Averett use the whirlpool, ultrasound and electrical stimulation units, as well as therapeutic exercise equipment to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of athletes.
