Phil Stanley

In 2009, Phil Stanley enters his third season with the Cougars and his second as the offensive line coach. Stanley was a standout offensive linemen for four years with the Averett University.

Stanley played in front of many of Averett’s best players, opening holes that enabled records to be set. During his sophomore year in 2001, Stanley helped running back Tracey Smithers set many rushing records that weren’t broken until Kyle Wilson hit his stride. In his junior and senior years, when Stanley helped protect quarterback Scott Swann, the Cougar passing game was the best in the league. Stanley's positive coaching style has made an immediate impact on the Cougar's offensive line this spring . The offensive line has seen significant strength and speed gains in  the most productive offseason in years.

Stanley graduated from Averett with a degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology. He currently lives in Danville.
