Andrew Gunderson is in his third season as an assistant for the Cougars. Gunderson’s duties at Averett include opponent scouting, recruiting, film exchange, practice preparation and fundraising. Prior to coming to Averett, Gunderson spent one season as an assistant at South River High School in South River, N.J.
Gunderson graduated from Catholic University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Sociology. While at Catholic, Gunderson was as a student-assistant for the men’s basketball program under coach Mike Lonergan. In 2003-04 the Cardinals went 24-6, and won the Capital Athletic Conference Championship before falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2004-2005 Catholic went 20-10 and reached the championship game of the ECAC South Region Tournament.
A native of South River, N.J., Gunderson is a 2001 graduate of South River High School where he played basketball and baseball. Gunderson currently resides in Danville and is working toward a Master’s degree in Education at Averett.
