Keith Goodaker

Keith Goodaker has served as the head coach of Averett University's men's golf program since May 2014.

In his first season as coach, he guided Averett to four top-10 finishes, including a tie for second at the 2014 Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate and a 10th-place finish in the Gold championship flight of the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate. Two of his players were the top two finishers at the VSGA Intercollegiate.

Goodaker took over a program that has produced a NCAA national championship, three NCAA appearances, eight All-America selections and one USA South Conference medalist.

A native of Danville, Goodaker served as the director of operations at Tuscarora Country Club before being named the head golf professional at Danville Golf Club in January 2016. Prior to that, he served as the director of golf at various golf clubs in South Carolina and California from 1985 through 2008. While serving as the director of golf at Belfair Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., Goodaker coached the Hilton Head Island High School golf team and was named the 4A Region 6 Coach of the Year in 2002. Goodaker also serves as a voter on the Golf Coaches Association of America. 

Goodaker is a 1982 graduate of James Madison University, where he earned a degree in business management. He later attended the PGA Business School. Goodaker’s playing credentials also include a win at the Reilley’s Pro-Am in 1989, multiple top-five finishes at the Hilton Head Island Golf PGA Championships and Hilton Head Open and qualifying for the Ben Hogan Tour in 1992.

In June 2014, Goodaker was elected to the PGA Middle Atlantic Section Quarter Century Club as a 25-year member of the PGA.

Goodaker resides in Danville with his wife, Ashley, and daughter, Elley Ann.
