Mary Katherine Pegram joined the Averett softball team as an assistant pitching coach in August 2014.
Pegram is a native of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, where she attended Harnett Central High School. In 2010, she was named Eastern North Carolina Pitcher of the Year, Greater Neuse Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and The News & Observer Softball Player of the Year.
After graduating from high school, Pegram attended Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina, and she was a starting pitcher at Lander all four years of her collegiate career.
Pegram graduated in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. While at Lander, Pegram made the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. She also received the "Golden L" academic award, an honor awarded to students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in their last 60 credit hours.
Pegram is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Averett University.
