Ibrahim Bunduka

Ibrahim Bunduka joined the Averett University wrestling program as an assistant coach in August 2018. He served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach before transitioning to a volunteer assistant coach in July 2020.

A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Bunduka came to Averett after a successful collegiate career at Division I George Mason University. Bunduka started all four years at 125 pounds and was an NCAA qualifier in 2017 and 2018. As a senior, he finished second in the Eastern Wrestling League after finishing third in the conference the previous season. He finished in the top five all four years. 

Bunduka also had success in Greco. In 2014, he finished second at 55 kilograms in the FILA Junior World Team Trials. The same year, he also finished sixth at University and seventh at FILA Junior Nationals. He also placed fourth at University in 2015.

Bunduka graduated from George Mason in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and infrastructure with a concentration in water resources. He's currently pursuing his master's degree in business administration from Averett.
