Baseball freshman Brandt Brophy was named the USA South Conference's Rookie of the Week on April 5. Brophy, an infielder/outfielder from Hayes, Virginia, came through with the clutch hit in the April 3 doubleheader finale. Brophy's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in the game-winning run to lift Averett 4-3 over Pfeiffer University. Between the Cougars' two games on that day, Brophy went 4-for-6 (.667) at the plate with a triple, a run scored, one run driven in and three walks.
