Greensboro led for a bulk of the first half, building a 26-16 advantage by the 8:56 mark. Pierce and Hart led Averett's comeback as the Cougars used a 16-3 run to take the lead with just under four minutes left in the half. That lead grew to as much as six points before Greensboro free throws trimmed the Cougars' lead to 37-34 at halftime.
Averett will look to rebound from its eighth consecutive loss at Methodist University on Saturday.
