Box ScoreFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Averett University men's tennis team fell 8-1 in a conference matchup to Methodist University on Friday afternoon.
Averett (1-3, 1-2 USA South) fell short in doubles, but freshman
James Wright tried to get the Cougars back on track with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Taylor Buchholz in the No. 2 singles match. At No. 3, Alex Terentiev put up a fight to hang with John Dangerfield, defeating him 6-4 in the second set after dropping the first set 6-1. Dangerfield came back to win the third set 10-6.
The Cougars were originally scheduled to play on Saturday against Greensboro College, but the matches were postponed due to inclement weather. Averett hosts Emory & Henry College on March 21 at 1 p.m.
